Charles L. McCowan, 74, of Pontiac, formerly of Morris, passed away early Friday morning, October 11, 2019 at Accolade
Healthcare of Pontiac.
Born on April 14, 1945 in Joliet, he was the son of Howard and Alice (Noel) McCowan. He received his education in the
schools of Joliet. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1969 to 1971. He married Diane Slachetka on November 27,
1969 in Lockport. Charles was employed for several years at Com Ed, Brunton Trucking in Pontiac and drove the van for the
Survived by his loving wife, Diane of Pontiac; two sons, Phillip (Sharon) McCowan of Australia and Don (Shawna) McCowan
of St. Louis; three grandchildren, Noah, Tahila and Austin; several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Allen McCowan.
He was a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of the Moose Lodge No. 967, he was governor from 1988 to 1989, past
governor and his accomplishments were fellow in 1985, his pilgrim in 2013, he was member since 1976. Also member of the
Elks lodge, American Legion and VFW.
Charles was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to the Moosehaven.
There will be no funeral service or visitation. Inurnment will take place at a later date at the Abraham Lincoln National
Cemetery in Elwood, IL
