Diane Mitchell, 67, of Newark, IL passed away early Monday morning, January 15, 2018 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice
Home with family by her side, after her battle with cancer for over two years.
Diane Lorene was the daughter of Louis and Ethel (Oswood) Gregoire. She was born and raised in Morris, graduating with the
class of 1968 from Morris Community High School. She attended Joliet Junior College for two years and worked as a secretary
at the First National Bank of Morris for several years. She married Curt Mitchell on November 18, 1972 at the Bethlehem
Lutheran Church, and lived on a farm near Morris for three years. In December of 1975 they moved to Newark, IL living on a
family farm. In 1990, she began to work for the Grundy County Clerk’s office retiring in 2005 to be with her grandchildren and
family. Diane enjoyed entertaining poolside, luncheons with friends, and cheering for her grandchildren during sporting events.
She was also a member of Grace Lutheran Church, and for several years taught Sunday school and served on the Parish
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Curt, three daughters, Jenna (Peter) McCanless of Glen Ellyn, Lori (Brian)
Hatteberg of Lisbon and Katie (Michael) Ranallo of Morris; six grandchildren, Kaitlyn Hatteberg, Lindsey Hatteberg, Brooklyn
Hatteberg, Mitchell Hatteberg, Emily Ranallo and Tyler Ranallo. She is also survived by one sister, Lana Phillips, her brother-in-
law, Robert (Marianne) Mitchell and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Richard Gregoire.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 19, 2018 at 10:30 am at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morris with Pastor
Steven Heilmann and Pastor Patrick Lohse officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held on
Thursday from 3:30 pm to 8:00 pm at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church and on Friday from 10:00 am until time of service at the
